Frogs Grow Up
Read the passage. Then answer the questions.
A frog starts life as a tiny egg in a pond. A mother frog can lay hundreds of eggs at once, and they float together in a jelly-like clump. After about a week, a tadpole wiggles out of each egg. A tadpole looks more like a little fish than a frog. It has a long tail for swimming, and it breathes through gills, just like a fish.
As the weeks go by, the tadpole begins to change. First it grows back legs, and then front legs. Its body gets bigger, and its tail slowly gets shorter. Inside, it grows lungs so it can breathe air.
After about twelve weeks, the tadpole has turned into a young frog. It climbs out of the water and hops onto land. When it is grown, it may lay eggs of its own, and the life cycle starts again.
